Root canal treatment
When the inside of a tooth is inflamed or infected, a root canal can relieve the pain and let you keep your natural tooth.
Inside every tooth there is soft tissue with nerves and blood vessels. When deep decay, a fracture or a blow reaches it, it becomes inflamed or infected — and that is where the pain that keeps you up at night comes from.
A root canal removes that damaged tissue, cleans the inside of the tooth and seals it. The advantage over pulling the tooth is plain: you keep your own tooth, and with it your bite and the bone that supports it.
